Part 6. The next generation

Ben Balafonic was someone who had known Greg for a few years and was a keen young soundman/dj who had some strong musical ideas/projects of his own along with running a label. He became the key tech man onstage filling that role of dub mixing and fx that Tim and Dan had made their own. As he moved into that position he was setting himself and Dreadzone up for the next level. The new live shows featured Rob Marche, the guitarist who had played on Sound, MC Spee, Earl 16 and Leo on bass alongside Ben and Greg. Some fine festival dates, a UK tour, a John Peel session and an appearance on Later with Jools Holland put the group firmly back on the map. The live show had now increased its energy factor and the band were once more a force to be reckoned with. A solid fanbase has kept the steady flow of sales confirming that “Sound” was indeed a return to form.
